2007 - Inaugural Season (10-10, 9-5, 3rd in Conference)

Bryla, Jim - Co-founder and 1st President, Jim batted .368 in his only season as an outfielder.  Jim went on to teach and coach baseball at Niles West High School.  Also, Jim moved on to become Conference Coordinator for both District V and VI in Division II of the NCBA.  Jim's #24 was retired by ISCB on 11/7/2007.

Gogola, Adam - Co-founder and 1st Vice President, Adam hit .286 in his only season as an outfielder.  Adam was the first officer to ever be in office during any consecutive years.  Adam put a  lot of heart into the team and he deserves much thanks to all current and future players for helping make Illinois State Club Baseball possible. Adam's #8 was retired by ISCB on 11/7/2007.

Houston, Luke - Luke helped make the first season a successful one by serving as 1st Treasurer and being a key part in the formation and organization of the team.  Luke was a pitcher and designated hitter but was stuck on the "DL" most of the season with bad elbow.

Kurnick, Matt - Matt stepped up and took on the coaching role the first season while also leading on the field. He was also the 1st Secretary for Illinois State Club Baseball.  He played a solid shortstop and led the team in hits (30), RBIs (18), and batting average (.448).

Thiel, Mike - Mike played on the inaugural team and served as a leader for some of the younger guys on the team.  In his only season Mike split time at 2nd base and was a serviceable backup at almost every other position.

 2008 (10-9, 7-5 3rd in Conference)

Christensen, Nate - Nate was a good contact hitter who was always willing to dedicate time to the Redbirds. He played solid defense and had 18 RBIs and a .342 career batting average.  Nate also had 11 SBs over his two seasons.

Coppersmith, Eric - Eric played a great 1st base for two seasons and was a constant offensive threat.  He the first home run in team history and finished his career with 2 HRS.  He also had 21 RBIs and a great .354 career batting average.

Dittmer, Drew - Drew stepped up in 2007 and became a regular in the pitching rotation.  He recorded 21 strikeouts in 24 innings of work and picked up the 1st victory in team history.

Gagliano, Mike - Mike had a stellar season at the plate and on the mound in 2008.  He went undefeated and hit .436 at the plate.  Mike also played solid defense the entire season.

Keegan, Matt - Matt played 2nd base for 2 seasons as a Redbird, and also did some pitching mostly out of the bullpen.  He hit a solid .385 in 2007 and finished with a .313 career batting average as well as a .441 career on-base percentage.

Nelson, Jack - Jack served as Secretary for the 2008 season and was the leader of the pitching staff.  He had a career 7-2 record and a 3.10 ERA.  He finished the 2008 season with a 1.93 ERA which was good for 15th in the nation.  Over just two seasons Jack recorded 92 strikeouts.

Rasor, Justin - Justin was with the team for the first two seasons of its existence.  He had a K/9 of 9.00 over the 20 innings he pitched during his career and was 2-1 with 1 save.

Walters, Dan - President of the 2008 season, Dan was the first person to be elected for this position.  Over two seasons, Dan had 16 RBI and scored 15 Runs.

Wyre, Steven - Steven played middle infield in his only season with Illinois State Club Baseball.  The speedy infielder had 12 RBI and 11 Runs scored in his only season and hit .277.

2009 (12-8, 7-6 3rd in Conference)

Franklin, Ryan – The tallest player in ISCB history, the 6’7” Franklin was a force on the mound.  In 2007, Ryan was dominant, going 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA and 1.43 WHIP.  He posted a career record of 5-5 and had a remarkable 66 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. 

French, James – James served as the team’s Safety Chair in 2008.  Spending most of his career out of the bullpen, James amassed a career 3-0 record, compiling a 1-0 record in each of his three years.  He finished his career with 15 strikeouts in 20.2 innings pitched. 

Topf, Ryan – Ryan was the leadoff hitter all three years for Illinois State Club Baseball.  He led the team in runs each of his three seasons and holds single season team records for runs (22), walks (26), and stolen bases (10).  He also shares the ISCB single season record for most triples (2).  Ryan finished his career with a .324 batting average and .463 OBP.  He also played phenomenal defense in centerfield.

Wolfe, Billy – The ISCB Vice-President in 2008, Billy was elected the Club’s third President and served that position for the 2009 season.  Although the first baseman’s playing time on the field was limited, Billy’s hard work off the field was vital to the success and progression of ISCB.  For his career, Billy drove in 9 runs on 9 hits, one of those hits being the first base hit in Club history. 

 

 

 

*All alumni must have completed at least their last 2 consecutive years of their college career with the team effective when the 2009 season begins.  All players on the inaugural team that finish their college careers with the team also will be included.
